A lovely, easy reading book. Beautifully takes you to the rural mountains of Virginia and gives you another perspective on the life of immigrants, why some left the old country, what they may be hiding. Fun characters, not deep dark brooding ones. A welcome relief from many modern novels saturated with darkness.

This is a great story and best when listened to. The person who reads it makes you feel like she is sitting in front of you telling you her life story and about all the characters she comes in contact with. Love this book and it's not my normal genre I read.
I read the first three novels in the series so felt I wanted to read this final installment. It was a good continuation and that Ave Maria was accepting her life a bit more. I enjoyed the series as I felt it captured the emotions and thought processes, bother the men and the women even though the story was told through the eyes of a woman. I could identify with how differently in my own life I think about things as compared to my wife so thought the author did an excellent job.
I usually don't spend so much on a book and I don't remember why I bought this one but I loved reading it in 2 days. As soon as I finished, I noticed ithere were 3 more, so I immediately bought the 3 of them in a bundle, a bit of a reduced price. This is eveidence enough of me loving this book and the 3 that will follow. I love it when I can laugh while reading. It's just a very good read and reinforces values.
What a delightful book. The story of woman who learns to trust her feelings. She marries the man from her own town whom has loved her 20 years. She realizes she has been so busy making life right for everyone else, that she has not taken time for herself. She and her new husband travel to Italy to meet family she did not even know she had. The book was a joy to read.
Since I'm familiar with Big Stone Gap (the town), that made the book more interesting. Good local color & character development. However, the plot seemed a bit too contrived, & the last part (trip to Italy) was unnecessary & detracted from the book. Reminded me of the way Daniel Defoe ruined "Robinson Crusoe" by adding all of that unneeded part about his return to England. A worthwhile read, except I was put off by some of the language.
Using interesting metaphors and a cast of characters that will ring true to any reader familiar with small town life, Adriana Trigiani waltzes her reader through the life of a young pharmacist in the small mining town of Big Stone Gap. Bemoaning her spinsterhood and mourning the loss of her Italian born mother, the central character discovers long buried truths about herself and finds the ability to trust love again with solid, tender Jack Mac. The best kind of romance.
I was so disappointed ! I wanted more. I want another book. I want to read about Etta and Stefano having babies. I want to know more about Jack's future plans. I want to know what happens with Pete. I NEED MORE ! This series of books was so good. I couldn't put the kindle down. I read all four books in 5 days.
