I would like to take a moment to address the negative reviews which almost kept me from reading this emotionally charged but wonderful story. First of all, I appreciate the fact that it stemmed around an unpleasant but very real topic. The hero was also a victim of the circumstances. You must understand that given his situation he reacted as most people probably would. He was a newlywed deeply in love and aggressively rejected sexually by his wife. She leaves him without explaining why and he's devastated and heartbroken in addition to feeling like less of a man. It's not until after she's walked out on him that her sister tells him a vague and tame version of what his wife really had to go through.Product details

The Marriage Surrender Harlequin comics eBook Michelle Reid Kako Ito Reviews
Very raw and touching, the shame of having had to endure that assault and then to misplace that blame or have no place to put.
In my personal opinion, I would give this book 10 stars if I could. Michelle has managed to pull at the heart strings and coerce those deeply hidden tears of genuine pain to present themselves in more than one instance in the book. For an HP book to be digging into real life trauma is refreshing. I'm honestly tired of reading those that are so unreal "girl meets boy, they fall into bed (might get pregnant and be forced to marry him) then claim love for one another" pfft!
This was an incredibly good story! The subject matter is very intense and sensitive which makes for a heart wrenching and harrowing book. Make sure you have tissues well handy. There are some very touching moments that leave the reader wounded.
Having said that....To be honest this is not in any way a typical Harlequin book. I usually read Harlequin as an escape from reality and this is not that. I am rating it as a standalone book and as such it probably deserves a 4.5. I would deduct points because it ends as quickly as a typical Harlequin which does not suit the subject matter. An Epilogue centered around their Orvieto country estate would have been the perfect finishing touch that was needed.
i am sure i have read this book when i bought it, but i can't remember it. so i tried to reread it but i couldn't. it was boring and slow. a waste of money. not recommended
Okay I was on the fence about this book since a few reviews were really negative. I have to say that the author touched a very touchy topic here. The heroine went through a lot, her struggle was really good to read but I can understand the frustration coming from some of the reviews. At time I felt that too. No, she cannot get over what happened to her how much time has passed. It will always remain part of who she became in life. I would have given it a four but my only gripe lost many stars. My only gripe in this story is that she gave me and hero the impression that she was upset because she couldnt give the hero the only thing he thought she was capable of giving- her virginity. Those guys violated her, her person, took away her choice, broke her, humiliated her but she was mainly concern about her virginity and what he would think about her. I even liked her battle with herself at not being able to commit to the marriage fully since she was still suffering from the trauma. She felt guilty which is also natural but was her guilt coz of her not being able to give H her virginity or not being able to share bed with him? if later than I loved it but if first then I .. no.. depriving her husband of that virginity which she lost with no fault of her own should have been the last thing on her mind and shouldnt have contributed to her guilt.
Also I never understood when did H actually find out what really happened to her. Yes her sister told him a few months after they got seperated but did he know that she was raped or just that she was attacked? I have to say that I understood hero's anger and how he handled the things after she came to him for help. She didnt confide in him which was again understandable but made him believe that it was him that she was having problem with which was not the case but in his shoes any man would be angry and confused with her.
The writing and the depth of
I cried all through this story! I kept telling myself to put it down because of all the pain that was brought out! I cried over and over. Sandro loved Joanna enough to help her find her way! The author did a beautiful job with this story! Thank you for sharing this!

The poor woman is sexually assaulted and never had any type of counselling or discussed it with her husband. A number of years later she needs his financial help and she is made to goes back into the relationship. The major issue I had is that although he find out about the assault it is almost brushed aside and he starts going after her again for sex. I would hope after you hear your spouse was attacked you would be a bit more tactful and even change your manner in terms of approaching someone about starting a sexual relationship?!?!?!
